The
inspiration of great friends over time, space, and reunion led to the Nine
Minute Prayer Project that began at the beginning of the year on January
1, 2010. We began as 12 in January. We doubled our numbers by the end of March. I expect we will again to include
a number from other nations on July 1. The
reunion took place just outside Columbus, Ohio in a small hamlet called Galloway. There we shared food, prayer, and very lively
conversation of our travels together when Bonnie and lived in Ohio and we all shared ministry
at the New Salem Missionary Baptist Church’s Missions Department.
Years
of service together building community with each other, the church at large (a
few thousand people), the community at large, and we even touched the
world. As the old century was closing,
we convened two international gatherings in Green Lake, Wisconsin I shall never forget. We are Christian in every context. We are not perfect and make no pretenses
about that. We deal with very real
life. Sometime we do right. There are others we do not manage it so
well.
Our faith in God and the one we believe Messiah keeps
us centered and intentionally focused on being a blessing to God, to ourselves,
to others, the Earth, and all of life. Initial members sharing with Bonnie and I included: Grady Cooper, Angela Holliman, The Revs. Marcus and Annette Jackson, Angela Billingslea, Djuana Drew, Micha Goudeau, Vicky Rivers, Tom and Connie Diggs.
